STUDENT REPERTOIRE REQUIREMENTS

All repertoire performed in the auditions must be performed from memory. This includes selections from oratorios and cantatas.

Students must meet the following requirements for repertoire performed in their auditions:

High School Divisions

  1. One art song in English.
  2. One Italian, French, German or Spanish art song.

Timing for the audition will be limited to 6 minutes and begin when the student announces his/her first selection.

College Divisions (Undergraduate: III through X)

  1. One aria (opera or oratorio/cantata) sung in the original language or in an English translation.
  2. One Italian, French, German, or Spanish art song performed in the original language.
  3. One art song sung in English selected from any national genre NOT represented in the above category.

Timing for the audition will be limited to 10 minutes for divisions III through VI, 12 minutes for divisions VII through X, and begin when the student announces his/her first selection.

College Divisions (Graduate: XI through XII)

  1. One operatic aria (original language or English).
  2. One oratorio/cantata aria (original language or English).
  3. One French art song (original language).
  4. One German art song (original language).
  5. One Italian or Spanish art song (original language).
  6. One art song sung in English selected from any national genre NOT represented in #3, 4, or 5 above.

Timing for the audition will be limited to 15 minutes and begin when the student announces his/her first selection.

Adult Division:

  1. A minimum of 3 songs chosen at the discretion of the singer.
  2. Songs must represent at least 2 languages, including English.

Timing for the audition will be limited to 8 minutes and begin when the singer announces his/her first selection.
